Tayvon Jackson - CEO

Tayvon Jackson is a Financial Advisor for New Perspective Financial Solutions and has been licensed since 2012. He focuses on helping retirees navigate the next stage of their life, retirement. Having an income plan and tax plan in retirement has helped Tayvon help countless individuals in the financial planning process. Tayvon provides educational seminars on income planning, Social Security, and Medicare in the community and is a strong advocate for financial literacy.

A former Division 1 Basketball player and triple major from Mount St. Mary’s University in math, business, and information systems, Tayvon also is a Chartered Retirement Plan Counselor CRPC, Accredited Asset Management Specialist AAMS, and writer for Forbes Council1. Tayvon is the author of 4 Investment Books, 40 Acres and Some Dividends, Poor Dad No Dad, Love and Finance, and Adventures of Investment Man. Vanessa Patterson

Managing Partner

Vanessa Patterson is a Financial Advisor for New Perspective Financial Solutions and has a passion for helping her clients fulfill their financial futures in retirement and beyond. As a fiduciary, she brings her expertise to make sure that our clients’ needs are being fulfilled. She listens and asks questions until she has understood and defined her clients’ needs, then tailors her solutions to fit each unique situation. She earns her client’s trust through transparency, integrity, and her commitment to getting the job done.

Vanessa attended Mount St. Mary’s University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in mathematics, and Georgetown University, where she earned her master’s degree in mathematics and statistics. Vanessa has also been a licensed real estate broker since 2011, a National Social Security Advisor Certificate Holder, and a strong advocate of financial literacy.

In her free time, Vanessa enjoys traveling, trying out new restaurants in the D.C. area, and cheering her daughter on at lacrosse games and gymnastics competitions.

Lisa Kim

Financial Advisor

Lisa Kim is a Financial Advisor at New Perspective Financial Solutions, previously served as a financial analyst for Lockheed Martin under the Hubble Space Telescope umbrella, and has worked closely with businesses, individuals, and families.

Lisa leverages her extensive experience in managing assets and holdings to bring a comprehensive perspective to the challenges we face today. She relishes working with all types of clients as well as assisting prospective clients.

An advocate for vulnerable populations, Lisa has served children and adults with disabilities for three decades. She takes great pride in philanthropic involvement supporting causes throughout the community.

Lisa’s vision of advising clients with real world statistics and data has been successful. As a visionary, she has cultivated a team of client-driven and caring professionals to serve clients, their families, their businesses, their communities, and to preserve legacy.

Rick Hoskins

Lead Financial Advisor

Rick Hoskins is a seasoned Financial Advisor for New Perspective Financial Solutions and has been licensed since 2014. He empowers both pre and post retirees to embrace their “encore chapter” with confidence thanks to his knowledge in crafting personalized income, legacy, and tax strategies.

A proud alumnus of the University of Missouri, Rick holds a bachelor’s degree in Personal Financial Planning. His commitment to financial literacy is evident through numerous seminars and webinars conducted nationwide, helping educate families and individuals on the transformative power of strategic planning. Rick firmly believes that planning knows no boundaries, a philosophy that has guided his interactions with many families across the country.

In 2016, Rick became a charter member of the Downtown Silver Spring Rotary Club, a gathering of 28 service-oriented community leaders united by the motto “Service Above Self.” Additionally, Rick is a distinguished 13-year member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., earning numerous awards and recognitions for his unwavering dedication to community service. In 2018 Rick became a member of Leadership Montgomery, which is the most prestigious leadership and community focused organization in Montgomery County, with a long alumni roster of some of the most widely recognized business leaders and political figures in Maryland. Through his extensive knowledge and commitment to making a positive impact, Rick works toward exemplifying the intersection of financial acumen and community leadership.

Aaron James, CRPC

Financial Advisor

Aaron James has been serving and educating the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area for more than 14 years. Over Aaron’s financial career at institutions such as J.P. Morgan, Bank of America and Merrill, and SunTrust Bank, he has gained substantial knowledge around numerous financial lines of business including lending, banking, small business, investments, and insurance.

To enhance his work experience, Aaron acquired his Series 7 and 66 licenses in 2017 (beginning his career as a financial advisor), MD Life and Health Insurance Producer license, Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor designation (CRPC), a master’s degree in management concentrating on financial management from University of Maryland, University College, and Bachelor of Arts in psychology from University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

Aaron has a passion for financial literacy and helps educate his clients on ways to overcome financial obstacles with sound financial advice and guidance. He has worked with many clients of all social economic statuses to pursue goals such as retirement, legacy planning, home ownership, higher education, business transitions, and other major family life events. More than developing his professional insights, he cares about his clients’ comprehension of why his advice works for a particular need at a particular time.

At this point of his career, he cares most about bridging the financial knowledge and wealth gap that exists between the haves and the have-nots in America. With his network of professionals, his mission is to educate and connect individuals to strategies to some of their most pressing financial quests and decisions with his unique perspective and delivery.

When Aaron is not reading history or playing Sudoku, you can find him golfing, traveling, working out, or enjoying adventures with his kids, Zoey and Zayden.

Tony Barnett

President of Operations

Tony is a consummate business leader. The son of an information technology pioneer (a co-founder of Telenet), he was raised with an unparalleled work ethic. He’s had every job, from dishwasher to the owner of an IT services and recruiting firm. His industry experience ranges from hospitality, financial services, and technology to entertainment, government contracting, and not-for-profit organizations. Most recently, he’s helped insurance agents develop and grow their retirement planning firms.

Before joining New Perspective, Tony was Chief of Staff at Shirley Luu & Associates, which recently was awarded the Washington Business Journal’s “Fastest Growing Companies” two years in a row. As part of the team with Tayvon, he will assist with operations, events, and clients with their life insurance and annuity needs. He is a licensed life and annuities agent in Virginia, Maryland, and D.C.

In his spare time, he is an accomplished poet with a published book, “Enlightenment Through the Fog” and a second book on the way. He also manages a community pool, develops fundraisers for cancer research, provides mentorship to entrepreneurs, and leverages his skills as a trained chef for private events and charities.

Krista Bennett

Senior Operations Service Manager

With five years of client service and finance experience and three years working alongside financial advisors, Krista is a powerful force in her role as a client service operations associate. She uses her positive attitude and tireless energy to encourage others to work hard, succeed, and reach their financial goals.

Krista grew up in Washington D.C., and attends the University of Maryland Global Campus, where she is earning her bachelor’s degree in human resources management. Her career ambition is to become a director of operations in the financial sector.

Krista’s free time is spent enjoying her daily 5 a.m. workouts, spending time with her twin sister, and watching true crime documentaries.

Ebony Hairston

VP of Operations

Ebony has over two decades of experience in the financial services industry. She began her career with a boutique broker-dealer as a business services coordinator before moving into a role as an advisor support specialist, servicing premier broker-dealer financial advisors and their clients in all areas of operations. Ebony was also the strategic relationship manager for a non-profit organization in Washington, DC. She worked hand-in-hand with the executive director to create logistical plans that foster civic engagement and leadership that help drive economic growth and strengthen the fabric of our communities. Ebony’s strengths include building strong, lasting relationships, problem solving, logistical planning, multi-tasking, organization, professional communication, and customer service.

Lily Fujii

Director of Client Services

Lily Fujii is a marketing professional known for her unwavering focus on delivering exceptional customer service. She has honed her skills in event planning, communication, and customer experience to help companies build strong relationships with their clients. In addition to her marketing expertise, Lily is also an avid enthusiast of outdoor activities, especially hiking. She believes that being active in nature helps her clear her mind and gain a fresh perspective on her work.

Shavanna Maitland-Small

Director of Marketing

With an impressive 15-year journey spanning diverse commercial enterprises, federal sectors, and healthcare industries, Shavanna brings a dynamic skill set to not just navigate change, but to champion it. She thrives in creating inclusive, equitable environments, fostering growth that stands the test of time.

Prior to joining New Perspective Financial Solutions, Shavanna worked as a Client Leader within the Traffic, Marketing, and Technology umbrella at Amazon. She now brings her talents and extensive experience to contribute to the success of New Perspective Financial Solutions.

Amidst high-pressure scenarios, Shavanna’s knack for rapid learning harmonizes seamlessly with her dedication to nurturing workspaces that celebrate diversity of thought. Beyond shouldering significant responsibilities, her track record is a symphony of consistent, trackable performance metrics and undeniable success.
